Marta Privitera
Guitarist

Marta has been passionate about music since childhood. Although no one in her family had a musical background, they always encouraged her love for rock and roll—even fulfilling her dream of owning an electric guitar when her father gifted her one. Her musical journey began around the age of eight when she started playing the ukulele at Sunday school, mainly performing at church. However, her interest in the instrument faded after the COVID pandemic hit.
In 2021, she discovered Nirvana and became captivated by the idea of performing and making music. Soon after, she picked up her sister’s Fender acoustic guitar and immersed herself in learning Nirvana riffs, especially obsessing over “Smells Like Teen Spirit.” Her musical taste evolved as she got into Metallica, drawn to their intense riffs and mesmerized by Kirk Hammett’s solos. This led her to buy her first electric guitar—a Jackson JS11 Dinky, which she still plays today—and begin formal lessons.
As her skills progressed, Marta explored more bands like Megadeth and Overkill, ultimately falling in love with thrash metal. While she still enjoys thrash, her taste has expanded to include a lot of death metal, drawing inspiration from bands like Death and Carcass. Both genres continue to heavily influence her playing and musical style today.
Privitera always aspired to play in a band, ever since picking up a guitar. Her lifelong best friend (Micheal Vassallo) had also just started playing bass, and every so often they would jam together playing songs like ‘Everlong’ and previously mentioned, ‘Smells Like Teen Spirit’. Later on, they started a project band with her other lifelong best friend (Ezra Grech) called Oblivion. After multiple failed attempts at finding a vocalist and going through many second guitarists, they gave up and went dormant. After a while, through guitar lessons, she met Kieron Spiteri who was looking for a drummer and a guitarist at the time. After multiple jam sessions at their teacher's garage, Marta had unofficially joined the band. Later on, she introduced Micheal and Ezra to Kieron and at that time the former vocalist. After one jam session, Kieron and the ex-vocalist decided to officially welcome Marta, Ezra, and Micheal into Impertex. Finally, after a while, Impertex had a full lineup. Impertex Originally started as a rock band, but after many discussions, they all decided to be a thrash band inspired by great bands like Megadeth.
