Explicit

EXPLICIT formed in 2003 by five band members coming from a spectrum of musical interests with a focus on creating their own original music in the alternative pop/rock music genre. The focus on both original music and lyrics remains to this day.

The original members were Maria Pia Meli (aka SKY) on vocals, Mario Saliba on Rythm Guitars, Marco Brincat on Lead and Rythm Guitars, Charles Buttigieg on Bass and Andrew Borg on Drums.

In 2005, SKY left the band and Stephanie Chetcuti joined in, and the band recorded its first demo songs, Objection and Games shortly afterwards. In 2007 drummer Andrew Borg was replaced by Mario Dalli, and the band started recording singles at Doyaya Studios aimed to be played on local radio. In order of release these where Sunny Again, Shame, Day Dreaming and Train. In 2012, the collection of singles was issued in an enhanced cd titled Train which included also the video of Train. The video was produced by Talon House Pictures and was the first on the islands having a CGI created introduction and background. This was followed by the recording of Smile and Running Away, with a music video being produced for the latter recorded single.

The band has been gigging in bars, festivals and taking part in music marathons since its formation. After the pandemic hiatus, long-time guitarist Marco Brincat left the band and was replaced with Gabriel Azzopardi. Meanwhile the band has been working on new material and is now looking forward to presenting its new material and to hit the stage once again.
