DROWNING SORROWS WELCOMES NEW DRUMMER BLIT TUDOR
January 27, 2025 – Malta-based band Drowning Sorrows is thrilled to announce the addition of Blit Tudor as their new drummer. Hailing from Baia Mare, Romania, Tudor brings with him a wealth of experience and a unique, self-taught drumming style that promises to take the band's sound to the next level.
Tudor’s journey behind the kit began at the age of 12, when he started exploring his passion for drumming. A true testament to his dedication, Tudor’s percussion skills were honed through years of practice and an intuitive approach to the drum kit. Although he studied percussion in high school, his drumming style was mostly shaped by his self-driven learning, making his technique raw, honest, and deeply personal.
Before joining Drowning Sorrows, Tudor made waves in the Romanian music scene as a member of several notable bands, including Keep Away, Schlitz, Ultimu Nivel, and Theory of Mind. His contributions to these projects have garnered praise for his ability to bring dynamic energy and precision to every performance.
"I've always believed that drumming isn't just about hitting things," Tudor says. "It’s about understanding the music, respecting the art, and knowing when not to play. It's about creating space, about finding beauty in mistakes, and making sure the sound speaks for itself. If you don’t respect the art, you’re finished."
Tudor’s drumming philosophy is founded on the "golden rules" of rhythm – a balance between creativity and discipline. His approach is as much about listening as it is about playing, with a focus on knowing when to give the music room to breathe. His passion for his craft and his commitment to pushing boundaries on the drum kit make him the perfect fit for Drowning Sorrows as they continue to evolve their sound.
