Mużika Mużika returns next Thursday – A festival that celebrates Maltese music.

Another edition of Mużika Mużika, one of the largest local festivals that celebrates Maltese music organised by Festivals Malta, is almost here. Next Thursday, 16 local artists will take to the grand stage of Mużika Mużika, where they will present their songs for the first time. Now in its fifth edition, Mużika Mużika is known for being a festival of the highest calibre which takes place over three evenings: The First Evening, Is-Serata tal-Klassiċi, and the Final.

This year, the First Evening of the festival will not include an elimination phase. Instead, a vote will be held that is exclusively open to audience members through a dedicated app called ‘Mużika Mużika: Il-Vot tas-Sala’. The votes collected by this app will be counted with the votes for the Final Evening which will be held via televoting. The total vote will determine the winner of the fifth edition of the festival.

Members of the public attending at the MFCC on Thursday 27th March are encouraged to download the App by following the instructions provided on their tickets. Through the provided instructions, one can register their vote in advance to be prepared for the voting on Thursday. Vote registration closes on Thursday 27th March at 8:30pm.

One of the most popular evenings of this festival is the Serata tal-Klassiċi. This non-competitive evening takes its audiences back in time through iconic songs that form an important part of our country’s musical heritage. A standout aspect of this particular evening is that the artists competing in the festival are accompanied by several popular local singers, which this year include Frank O’Neill, Joe Carr, Catherine Vigar, Augusto Cardinali, Thea Garrett, Amber, Mary Spiteri and many others.

This year, The Tenors will also be taking part as special guests during the final evening of the festival on Saturday 29th March. The Tenors are an internationally renowned group known for their distinct voice. With a musical style that combines the classical genre with pop, folk and rock, The Tenors manage to give a different interpretation of classic songs such as "The Prayer", "Nessun Dorma", "Forever Young", and "Hallelujah", among others.

Preparations for Mużika Mużika have now reached their peak, with work that includes months of preparation in advance. Currently, the Festivals Malta team is working on the final logistical elements including lighting and orchestral music rehearsals, stage preparations, production coordination, and many other elements that will culminate in a high-calbre production that will be presented over the three evenings.

Mużika Mużika will be held between 27 and 29 March 2025 at the MFCC, Ta’ Qali. The festival will also be broadcast live on TVM. For more information and tickets, visit www.muzikamuzika.mt.

Mużika Mużika is organised by Festivals Malta with the support of the Ministry for National Heritage, the Arts and Local Government.
