Maltese artist Myles has just released his latest single (03/01/25), Lil Din l-Art Helwa, a bold and raw take on the state of his homeland. Inspired by the Maltese national anthem, the song flips its original sentiment, turning a hymn to Malta's beauty into a reflection on the bitter realities of power, corruption, and societal struggles.
"I grew up loving the anthem's message, but I can't ignore what's happening around me," says Myles. "This song is my way of expressing how it feels to see a place you love being taken advantage of. It's not just music; it's a callout."
The track is a collaboration with DJ Mac, who brings his signature scratching artistry to the mix, and Simon Deguara from Kill The Action, adding depth to the song's production. Mixed and mastered at Valhalla Music Studio, the sound is polished but carries a raw emotional punch.
The accompanying video, directed and produced by Myles himself, is as visceral as the song. "I wanted the visuals to reflect my feelings-abduction, helplessness, and the cold reality of what's happening to our land," he explains.
